On November 23, 2017 on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Kazakhstan and Switzerland the Embassy of Kazakhstan has opened the Honorary Consulate in Geneva with a consular district in the cantons of Geneva, Vaud, Neuchâtel, Jura, Valais and Fribourg. The event was attended by the official and business representatives of Switzerland.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan Mrs. Zhanar Aitzhanova, Chief of Protocol of the Swiss Foreign Affairs Department Ambassador Mauro Reina and Honorary Consul Mr.Jean-Paul Periat made their welcoming speeches.
In her remarks Ambassador Aitzhanova highlighted current state of bilateral cooperation with Switzerland and its perspectives, especially in the framework of Astana International Financial Center and Green technologies Center.
Ambassador Reina pointed out high level of bilateral relations and expressed the hope for further strengthening of cooperation between our countries.
Mr.Jean-Paul Periat also expressed his confidence that with the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Geneva the intensity of official, business, scientific and cultural contacts between the two countries will significantly increase. The consulate is aimed at active attraction of Swiss investments and technologies to the Kazakhstan's market.
After the remarks an open discussion was held on the issues of doing business in Kazakhstan, organizing trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, stressing the regional cooperation between Switzerland and Kazakhstan.
As a result the participants highly evaluated perspectives for bilateral cooperation in the context of the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Geneva.

Swiss companies, such as «ABB», «Philip Morris», «Glencore», «Nestlé», «Roche», «Novartis», «Sica», «Syngenta», «Rieter», «Schindler», «Mettler Toledo», «Bühler», «Clariant», «Leica»and others are well presented in the market of Kazakhstan.
