Strengthening of cooperation with the World Health Organization discussed in Geneva

On October 26, 2017, Mrs. Zhanar Aitzhanova, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met in Geneva with Mr. Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).

During the meeting, the parties discussed current and future cooperation between Kazakhstan and the WHO, as well as the prospects for further improving the healthcare system in Kazakhstan, including ensuring universal access to health care.

As a result of the negotiations, agreements were reached on providing WHO with the necessary assistance to Kazakhstan in such areas as rehabilitation of pediatric sites, the introduction of a disease control program based on the active treatment of patients with chronic diseases, improving the provision of emergency medical care and solving problems in emergency services, the introduction of medical information systems for the purpose of digital healthcare modernization.

At present Kazakhstan conducts an effective cooperation with the World Health Organization through its European Regional Office in Copenhagen, the WHO Country Office in Astana and WHO Office on primary health care in Almaty which was opened in 2015.
