​Nur-Sultan Hosts the 9th Round of Kazakh-Mongolian Consular Consultations

NUR-SULTAN, June 4, 2019 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the 9th round of Kazakh-Mongolian consular consultations. The Kazakh delegation was headed by the Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Tauboldy Umbetbayev, while the Mongolian side by the Director of the Consular Department of the Mongolian Foreign Ministry, Lkhanaajav Munkhtushig. Representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, ministries of the interior, justice, labor and social protection, and education of the two countries also took part in the consultations.

During the talks, the sides discussed protection of the rights and interests of individuals and legal entities of the two countries, entry/exit and stay of citizens in the two countries, social protection of citizens, cooperation between the ministries of justice of the two countries, the fight against drug-related crime, and opening of Kazakhstan's consular post in Mongolia in Bayan-Ölgii.

In addition, the sides discussed the draft agreement between the two governments on the simplified procedure for the acquisition and termination of citizenship by citizens of Kazakhstan permanently residing in Mongolia, and citizens of Mongolia permanently residing in Kazakhstan, prevention of statelessness and dual citizenship, and the draft protocol amending the Agreement between Kazakhstan and Mongolia on Mutual Legal Assistance in Civil and Criminal Matters dated October 22, 1993.

Consular consultations were held in a constructive atmosphere and in the spirit of mutual understanding.
