​Consulate of Kazakhstan and representative office of Kazakh Invest open in Croatia

The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan and an office of an independent partner of Kazakh Invest have been opened in the historical center of the Croatian city of Split.

The event was attended by the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Marija Pejcinovic-Buric, the Minister of Regional Development and Funds of the EU Gabriela Jalats, leadership of the Split-Dalmatian region, Split City Hall, representatives of the public and political circles, diplomats and journalists.

At the opening ceremony, the Croatian Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the results of her official visit to Nur-Sultan on April 30 earlier this year, during which the Embassy of Croatia was opened in Kazakhstan.

The dynamic development of Kazakh–Croatian cooperation and the growth of foreign trade turnover, exceeding $350 million in 2018, was noted.

The Croatian Foreign Minister expressed hope that the opening of the Consulate of Kazakhstan and the representative office of Kazakh Invest in Split will contribute to the further expansion of trade and economic ties, as well as expanding exchanges in the field of tourism, education, culture and sports.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan Tolezhan Barlybaev, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, expressed gratitude to Ms. Pejcinovic-Buric for assistance in opening the consulate, noting the significant personal contribution of the head of Croatian diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations.

The need to develop business and cultural connections was emphasized. As a mark of appreciation, the Ambassador presented a Kazakh national jacket (kamzol) to the Croatian Foreign Minister.

Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Split Mateo Tramontana and independent partner of Kazakh Invest Ivica Pirich emphasized the great potential for business cooperation, and expressed readiness to implement measures aimed at expanding direct relations between the entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and Croatia.

Ms. Pejcinovic-Buric and Mr. Barlybaev presented awards to young football players of the "Aktau" and "Okzhetpes" teams from Kazakhstan, who participated in the youth football tournament “Dalmatinko-2019” held in Split May 2-6.

The opening ceremony included a presentation of the book of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev “The Era of Independence”, published in the Croatian language, as well as an overview of the investment and tourism potential of Kazakhstan.

During the ceremonial reception dedicated to the opening of the Consulate of Kazakhstan, the participants and guests were given memorable gifts and souvenirs.

The capital of Split-Dalmatia county - the city of Split - is the second largest city in Croatia, the world's historical and cultural center, which is annually visited by around seven million tourists.

The main symbol of the city, the Palace of Diocletian, on the embankment of which the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan is located, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
