Kazakhstan - Hungary

General information

March 23, 1992 – the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Hungary were established.

March 1993 – the Embassy of Hungary in Kazakhstan was opened.

September 1993 – the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Hungary was opened.

Since 2019 – Zhanibek Abdrashov appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Hungary.

28 October 2015 – A.Barani appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Kazakhstan.

 September 2012 – Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hungary (Karcag) was opened. Honorary Consul is L.Horvat.

 November 2014 - Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Hungary in Kazakhstan (Atyrau) was opened. Honorary Consul is O.Karshegenov.

April 2016 - Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Hungary in Kazakhstan (Aktobe) was opened. Honorary Consul is D.Sarsenov

January 2014 - Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Hungary in Kazakhstan (Shymkent) was opened. Honorary Consul is K.Moldaseitov

Political contacts

December 1994 President NursultanNazarbayev paid an official visit to Budapest.

March 1995 Prime Minister of Hungary G.Horn paid an official visit to Kazakhstan.

November 1997 the President of Hungary A.Goncz paid a return visit to Kazakhstan.

May 2005 Prime Minister of Kazakhstan D.Akhmetov paid a working visit to Hungary.

November 2007, President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev paid the state visit to Budapest

December 1-2, 2010 President of Hungary P.Shmitt participated in the OSCE Summit in Astana.

May 3-4, 2012 Prime Minister of Hungary V.Orban paid the official visit to Kazakhstan.

June 2-3, 2014 the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan K.Massimov paid the official visit to Budapest during which the Joint Declaration on Strategic Cooperation was signed.

October 17, 2014 President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev met with Prime Minister of Hungary V.Orban in Milan, Italy.

March 2015Prime Minister of Hungary V. Orban paid an official visit to Kazakhstan during which the Kazakh-Hungarian Strategic Council was established.

March 2016 President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev met with Prime Minister of Hungary V.Orban at the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington.

Trade and economic cooperation

According to the Kazakhstan Committee on Statistics, the bilateral trade turnover in 2017 amounted to 156,4 million US dollars.
