Kazakhstan - Israel

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State of Israel establishedon April 10, 1992.

The Israeli Embassy in Kazakhstan operates from August 1992, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Israel was opened in May 1996.

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Israel is Satybaldy Burshakov (2019).

Israeli Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan is Liat Wexelman (2018).

Political relations

Kazakh President NursultanNazarbayev has visited Israel twice with an official visit (December 1995, April 2000).

June 30 - July 1, 2009 state visit of Israeli President Shimon Peres in Kazakhstan. During the visit, he took part in the 3rd Congress of leaders of world and traditional religions, as well as in the Kazakh- Israeli business forum, where six agreements were signed.

December, 2016 the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu paid an official visit to Astana.

September, 2015 Ex-President Shimon Peres paid working visit to Astana and held a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan.

Cooperation between the foreign ministries

On a regular basis ministerial consultations are being held. Sixth round of political consultations was held in June 2013 in Astana, Round 7 –on November 3, 2015 in Jerusalem.

The Intergovernmental commission

On the basis of the agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the Government of the GOP from September 8, 1992 the Kazakhstan-Israeli intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperationhas been established. There were 7 meetings of the IGC. Co-Chairman of the Kazakh part of the IPC is the Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan BakhytSultanov.Co-Chairman of the Israel's part - Minister for Jerusalem Affairs and National Heritage, Environment Minister Z. Elkin.

Trade and economic cooperation

Kazakhstan is interested in the advanced Israeli technologies and know-how, Israel - in the supply of Kazakh energy resources.

The volume of mutual trade turnover of Kazakhstan with Israel for the first 9 months of 2016 amounted to 237 million USD (export - $ 197 million, import 40 million USD).

The main items of Kazakhstan's exports are oil, petroleum products and metals. Kazakhstan imports machinery and equipment, plastics, and agricultural products.
