Beibit Isabayev is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Azerbaijan Republic (from March 2015).
Mammadov Rashad Eynaddin oglu is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Azerbaijan Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan (since 15 March, 2016).
Kazakh-Azerbaijan relations are developing in accordance with the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Allied Relations, signed after the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev to Baku in May 2005.

There was an official visit of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic I. Aliyev to Kazakhstan on October 19-21, 2011, during which the Head of Azerbaijan also participated in the First Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States.
On August 16, 2013 the President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev took participation in the work of the Third Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States in Gabala (Azerbaijan Republic).
In June 12, 2015 it was a working visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Massimov to Azerbaijan for the participation in the opening ceremony of the First European Olympic Games in Baku.
A working visit of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic I. Aliyev to Kazakhstan took place on September 11, 2015, within which the Head of Azerbaijan participated in the Fifth Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States.
The President of the Azerbaijan Republic I. Aliyev made a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan on October 16, 2015, during which he took part in the meeting of the Council of the Heads of the CIS States.
On February 15-16, 2016, there was a working visit of the First Deputy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Sagyntaev to Azerbaijan.
The work of the Kazakh-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Commission (IC) on Economic Development promotes bilateral relations in the economic sphere. The 13th session of the IC was on 21-22 September 2016, in Astana. During the meeting the issues concerning the extension of trade and economic relations, investment ties in the area of energy, transit and transport systems, agriculture, education and tourism were considered.
At the end of 2015, the mutual trade was $ 125.5 million (export – $ 109.8 million, import - $ 15.7 million).
The mutual trade between January – November 2016 was $ 131.1 million (export – $ 102.3 million, import - $ 28.8 million).
The main exports from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan include mineral resources (oil and gas), chemical raw materials, grain, barley, tobacco products, electrical equipment.
Petroleum products, manufactured from bituminous materials, ethylene polymers, components for vehicles and mechanisms, pre-engineered building system are imported to Kazakhstan.
From October 18 to 21, 2015, it was a trade mission of Kazakh producers in Baku, organized by the National Export and Investment Agency “Kaznex Invest" together with the Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
From June 6 to 9, 2012, in Astana and Almaty were held The culture days of the Azerbaijan in the Kazakhstan.
From November 18 to 21, 2012 in Baku was organized The culture days of the Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan.
