Vilnius, January 17, 2018 - The "round table", organized by the Embassy was dedicated to the January presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the UN Security Council at the Institute of International Relations and Political Sciences of Vilnius University. The meeting was attended by experts from the Institute, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, as well as international journalists.
The participants were acquainted with the main priorities of the Kazakhstan as the Chairman of the global Organization. Astana's initiatives on the development of the Code of Conduct for the achievement of a world free from terrorism and the formation on its basis of a global coalition to counter international terrorism and extremism were highlighted.
The guests discussed a wide range of issues regarding Kazakhstan's foreign policy activity, as well as the state and prospects of Kazakh-Lithuanian relations.
Kazakhstan's practical experience in implementing most of the priorities set by our country was noted. In this context, the achievements of the Kazakhstan in the struggle for a world free of nuclear weapons, the construction of a successful model of interfaith and interethnic dialogue, the orientation toward sustainable development and integration of the Kazakhstan in the region were highlighted.
The experts congratulated Kazakhstan on this achievement, having agreed that the presidency in the UN Security Council is the culmination of the quarter-century diplomatic activity of our state.
The merits of the Head of our state in the mediation of the most complicated Eurasian conflicts were noted.
The participants of the “round table” showed keen interest in the priority of the Kazakhstan on adapting the UN Security Council and the entire organization to the threats and challenges of the 21st century.
Kazakhstan's foreign policy initiatives in the context of solving regional and global problems, such as the Manifesto "The World. XXI Century ", the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the transformation of CICA into OBRA, as well as the initiative of Islamic reconciliation.
At the end of the meeting, the participants were briefed about the vision and plans of the Embassy regarding the further development between the Kazakhstan and Lithuania; in the context of the implementation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev's Address to the People of Kazakhstan "New Development Opportunities in the Conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution".
