Kazakhstan Ambassador met with federal and cantonal economic leadership of Switzerland

On November 14, 2017 in Bern Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Zhanar Aitzhanova had meetings with the State Secretary for Economic Affairs (SECO) Ms. Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch and the Minister of Economy of the Canton of Bern Christoph Ammann.

At the meeting with the State Secretary for Economic Affairs Ms. Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch the economic policy of Switzerland and bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including development of legal framework and investment opportunities in Kazakhstan, were discussed.

The possibility for establishment of interregional cooperation and exchange of experience were considered during negotiations with the Minister of Economy of the Canton of Bern Mr.Christoph Ammann. The Swiss side presented information on the region's economic development, promising projects in the field of medical technologies, tourism, 3D printing and other high-tech industries.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to explore potential areas of cooperation, consider the possibility of attracting Bern companies to the Kazakhstan market and to organize the exchange of visits of business delegations of two countries.

Bern is the second largest canton in Switzerland with developed sectors of economy, such as medical technologies, precision industry, agriculture, tourism, etc. The GDP of the canton is 76.7 billion US dollars, exports 12.7 billion, imports 12.5 billion US dollars, the unemployment rate 2.7%.
