On November 27, 2017 Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Daniyar Sarekenov took part in the opening ceremony of the FAM Trip for representatives of tour operators and agencies of Kazakhstan.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia jointly with the National Association of Private Language Centers «English Malaysia», «Education Malaysia Global Services» and «Tourism Malaysia». The main objective of the FAM Trip is to increase the number of tourists, as well as the number of students enrolled in higher education institutions of the two countries.
The program of upcoming events for representatives of tour operators and agencies of Kazakhstan provides study tours, workshops, a round table with representatives of Malaysia's leading tour operators, as well as visits to the cultural and historical heritage of the country. These activities are planned as a part of intensive 6 day program which will provide a good opportunity to become more thoroughly acquainted with the sights and infrastructure of Malaysia, as well as the latest trends in higher education.
In the framework of the event Ambassador of Kazakhstan held a meeting with the Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia. Following the meeting, Mr. D.Sarekenov informed on economic and investment potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the same time, within the implementation of the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan «The Third Modernisation of Kazakhstan: global competitiveness» has proposed to consider new forms of cooperation, in particular, the opening of branches of Malaysia's leading universities for training of Kazakhstan specialists in Islamic banking, halal industry, engineering and financial technologies, including on the basis of the International Financial Center «Astana».
In his welcome speech Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh has stressed that for 25 years since the establishments of diplomatic relations the two countries have determined strong cooperation in the sphere of education and science. A good example is the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of higher education in accordance with which the Kazakhstan-Malaysian Joint Working Group in the field of higher education was created.
Reference: On January 20, 2017 the second meeting of the JWG in the field of higher education between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Malaysia was held in Putrajaya. During the meeting the issues of further cooperation in the field of higher education were raised and discussed. Currently about 1.5 thousand of Kazakhstan students studying at Malaysian universities.
