ASTANA, November 26, 2018 - A ceremony to celebrate the introduction of a postage stamp from the “Memorable and Jubilee Dates" series, titled “Membership of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the UN Security Council", recently look place at the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Yerzhan Ashikbayev and Managing Director of Kazpost Baurzhan Ainabekov.
In January 2017, Kazakhstan became the first Central Asian country to be elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2017-2018. During the voting, 138 UN member states voted for Kazakhstan, in recognition of the country's contribution to strengthening international stability and security, as well as of the positive reputation of President Nazarbayev across the global community.
According to Mr. Ashikbayev, Kazakhstan's membership in the Security Council is one of the overarching foreign policy achievements of the country in the 27 years since independence. “It is symbolic that today's ceremony was held on the eve of the Day of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, who is at the core of our country's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council," the Deputy Minister emphasised.
The postage stamp is made by offset printing in four colors, in the form of a sheet of ten stamps. 20,000 copies of the stamp will be printed, with a price per stamp of 250 tenge.
