ZURICH, November 1, 2018 – A delegation of the Kazakh Tourism National Company, headed by Chairman of the Board Rashid Kuzembaev, organised a working visit to Switzerland, from 29 October to 2 November.
On the first day of the visit, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Zhanar Aitzhanova, and more than 30 representatives of tourist companies and potential investors, participated in a road show held in Geneva. Kazakh Tourism made a presentation about Kazakhstan, highlighting a number of top ten investment projects from the country's Tourism Map.
On 30 October, a meeting on the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index was held with representatives of the World Economic Forum. This index will become one of the key indicators in Kazakhstan's state programme for the development of domestic and inbound tourism until 2025.
In order to implement the mission set by President Nursultan Nazarbayev to open a tourism university in Kazakhstan, the delegation visited the Ecole Hôtelière de Genève Hotel Management School, which trains specialists and line staff in the tourism industry. The school leadership expressed interest in developing a curriculum for Kazakhstan and assisting in opening a university.
On 31 October, a road show was held in Zurich with the participation of 20 outbound tourism experts, potential investors and interested companies in the region.
On 1 November, the delegation held a number of official meetings with the leadership of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Swiss Tourism, Swiss Health, Swiss Education Group and other organisations.
Following the talks, a Memorandum of Cooperation between Kazakh Tourism and Swiss Tourism was signed, according to which the Swiss side will assist in developing year-round tourism in national parks and mountain areas of Kazakhstan, adapting and introducing standards for training mountain guides and ski instructors. The bilateral document also includes mutual support in promoting tourism products, exchanging information and deepening international cooperation.
With the assistance of Swiss Tourism, the delegation of Kazakh Tourism will visit the 16th International Holiday Exhibition in Lugano, as well as learn about the management model of the Swiss National Park in Zernez.
