On November 23, 2017, in the cultural capital of Romania, center of the Transylvanian region - Cluj-Napoca, the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the launch of the first Kazakh Film Festival, dedicated to the Day of the First President, were held.
Among the numerous guests were well-known state and political figures, representatives of leading universities of the country, business circles, consular corps, as well as representatives of the Kazakh community. One of the most respected citizens of the region, co-founder of the holding "Energobit" Stefan Gadola was appointed to the post of Honorary Consul.
In his address to the guests, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Romania Daulet Batrashev stressed that the main task of the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan will be the promotion of economic cooperation between the two countries, the implementation of joint projects in the field of culture and education, as well as the provision of consular and legal assistance to citizens of Kazakhstan.
In turn, Mayor of Cluj-Napoca Emil Boc noted the countries interest in developing mutually beneficial relations with Kazakhstan, stressing the wide range of opportunities that Cluj-Napoca can provide for further development of cooperation between the regions of Kazakhstan and Romania.
The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan became the 11th eleventh diplomatic mission in Cluj-Napoca and will operate in the consular district, which includes Cluj, Bihor, Bistrita-Nasaud, Maramures, Satu Mare and Salaj regions. According to the Vice President of the Cluj County Council, Vakar Istavan-Valentin, the presence of diplomatic missions in the city will provide additional impulse to the development of trade and economic cooperation.
After the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate, the first Kazakh Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca was launched, dedicated to the Day of the First President.
At the Gala-opening of the festival, the final part of the epic "A Leader's Way" - "So the stars aligned" was screened. During the following days, films such as "Kazakh Khanate: Diamond Sword", "Gift to Stalin", "Nomad", "The old man" were shown.
The honorary guest of the festival - actress Ingkar Abdirash ("Kazakh Khanate: Diamond Sword") spoke about the film production expressing confidence that this event will allow the Romanian viewer to get better acquainted with the rich history and culture of Kazakh people.
Guests of the event noted that the Festival is a wonderful gift on the eve of the National Day of Romania - December 1, and is a unique event in the city of Cluj-Napoca.
On November 24, the official delegation of Karaganda, led by Deputy Mayor Asylbek Moldabayev, met with municipal and regional authorities, as well as with the business community of Transylvania, discussing opportunities for joint implementation of projects in two regions. Representatives of the largest IT cluster in Romania acquainted the delegation with the latest developments of Romanian companies in the field of information technology. During the presentations, the possibilities of using technologies in Kazakhstan were studied in order to implement the state program for the modernization of the national economy.
Following the meeting, the Agreement on twinning relations between the city of Karaganda and the city of Cluj-Napoca was signed, first in the history of the Kazakh-Romanian cooperation.
