MOSCOW, November 5, 2019 - A round-table discussion themed “Central Asia: Prospects and Opportunities for Italian Companies in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan” was held in Moscow. The organizers were the Association of Italian Industrialists in Russia and “Pavio e Ansaldo” law firm, with the support of the Italian Embassy in Russia.
The purpose of the event was to familiarize Italian companies operating in Russia with the prospects for activities in these countries.
At the invitation of the organizers, Kazakhstan was represented by the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Olzhas Issabekov. The event was also attended by the Chief Policy Advisor of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) Amina Turgulova.
In his speech, the Kazakh diplomat focused on the fact that Italy is the largest trade partner of Kazakhstan among the countries of the European Union and one of the leading investors in the economy of our country.
O. Issabekov noted the significant business opportunities provided by such sectors of the Kazakhstan economy as chemistry, petrochemistry, tourism, logistics, engineering, pharmaceuticals, food production, etc. At the same time, serious preferences provided by the state for investors were emphasized, for example, the exemption from corporate income tax and land tax.
The audience was also interested to learn about the investment prospects in special economic and industrial zones of Kazakhstan.
During the round-table, a special focus by Kazakh representatives was placed on the AIFC activities. Italian businessmen drew attention to the uniqueness of this project for Central Asia and the Caucasus, noting that the center makes a significant contribution to an attractive investment climate in Kazakhstan.
The representatives of the Italian business community working in Kazakhstan shared their impressions of activities in our country. The businessmen agreed that the Kazakh side provides some of the most comfortable conditions for investors, in connection with which it was recommended to study business opportunities in Kazakhstan in detail.
As a result of the event, a number of companies showed particular interest in the activities in our country, and the representative of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry held separate meetings with these companies. The Italian businessmen expressed interest in cooperation in such areas as the development of industrial parks, petrochemicals and international transport logistics.
