ASTANA, December 13, 2018 - The results of the new “Zhas Diplomat” educational project were summed up on the eve of Independence Day at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Pupils of seven metropolitan schools-gymnasiums – No.3, No.4, No.5, No.6, No.48, No.75 and No.81, as well as representatives of seven diplomatic missions accredited in Astana during two months, jointly prepared for the final meeting of the Model UN titled “Future Energy”. In the course of the project, initiated within the framework of the Programme of the Head of State “Rukhani Zhangyru”, a number of educational events were held with the participation of pupils of city schools and foreign diplomats. Pupils visited the Embassies of Brazil, Germany, Georgia, Poland, Turkey, Japan, as well as the Korean Cultural Center. In turn, foreign diplomats held lectures and talks in the city schools, telling pupils about their countries, their policy in the field of energy, and the peculiarities of diplomatic activity.
In the final of the “Zhas Diplomat” project, pupils represented the countries of the diplomats, with which they worked during the project. The moderators were the students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Astana. Following an intense debate, young diplomats managed to reach a consensus and adopt a general resolution on the development of renewable energy sources.
Welcoming the guests, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, noted that the basis of the “Zhas Diplomat” project were the key ideas of “Rukhani Zhangyru” aimed at developing values such as knowledge and openness of consciousness.
The Kazakh foreign minister stressed the importance of the project in the context of the Year of Youth declared by the President of Kazakhstan. The Minister thanked the pupils and representatives of the Embassies for their active participation in the “Zhas Diplomat” project and wished them further success.
The “Zhas Diplomat” project was initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support of the Akimat of Astana city, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Coordination Center of the Model UN.
